Dr. William Haws, Superintendent
Superintendent's Message
On behalf of the Board of Education and Administrative Team, welcome to the beginning of the school year for the Bangor Area School District, “Home of the Slaters!” It is my hope that the 2018-2019 School Year proves to be a great one for our students, faculty, staff, and the community.
We begin the academic year with many changes within our District. I am very pleased to introduce our new Assistant Superintendent, Ms. Kristin Kruger, in addition to Mr. Allan Munford as our High School Principal, and Dr. Sherry Holub, as our Middle School Principal. These administrators collectively bring numerous years of outstanding experience, knowledge, and leadership to our District.
In the Department of Buildings and Grounds, we have begun much needed renovations to the Five Points Elementary School along with major upgrades to our sewer and water treatment plant. We have also launched an impressive new Elementary Mathematics Curriculum. Over the course of this year we will be seeing enhancements to our student information system resulting in an overall refinement of our processes and procedures.
There is much excitement accompanying the many changes occurring at the Bangor Area School District as we move in the direction which ultimately serves our students. These positive changes will prepare them for the many challenges they will face when they graduate from our schools.
In my second year as your superintendent, I remain steadfastly committed to making the Bangor Area School District a learning institution of the highest caliber. We will introduce many new ideas, but, we shall continue to maintain the traditions which make this community strong and proud. We have great students and a talented staff. Our Board of School Directors has an unwavering commitment to educational excellence and to the continuous improvement of our schools. We are prepared to make this great leap forward. Join us for the ride!
